Marriott International Appoints Mr. Alfonso as Regional General Manager

Marriott International recently announced that effective August 1, 2025, Mr. Alfonso Orona has been promoted to Regional General Manager, overseeing The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, The Ritz-Carlton Suzhou and the upcoming Marriott Bonvoy Apartments.
Born into a family of hospitality professionals, Alfonso spent his childhood moving between Mexico and Spain, and developed a keen sense of service at his family’s restaurant from the age of 13. He officially embarked on his hotel career in 1996, with nearly 30 years of deep industry experience, including 15 years dedicated to The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. His professional footprint spans The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, The Ritz-Carlton Xi’an, The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama in Spain, The Ritz-Carlton Muscat, Al Bustan Palace in Oman, and The Ritz-Carlton Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.
During his four-year tenure as General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, he infused exceptional leadership into every detail: revenue and GOP targets were exceeded consecutively for years, while market positioning and brand influence rose steadily. Operations efficiency, guest experience, and the “Marriott Community Footprints” social impact program also achieved remarkable results. Under his leadership, the hotel consistently ranked among the top performers in Marriott’s Luxury Quality Assurance (LQA) and Brand Standards Audit (BSA).
Alfonso places particular emphasis on the trinity of marketing, food & beverage, and operations. From luxury brand collaborative afternoon teas and artist cross-over events & art exhibitions, to diversified dining promotions and the deep integration of The Ritz-Carlton service standards with local art and culture, he has established The Ritz-Carlton Beijing as a market trendsetter and earned widespread acclaim within the industry.With fortitude and a results-driven management philosophy, he has led his team to win more than 30 international awards, including those from Forbes Travel Guide, the Forbes “VERIFIED Responsible Hospitality” Badge, DestinAsia 2024 Readers’ Choice, and the Condé Nast Traveller Gold List.Individually, Alfonso has also been honored with titles such as Travel & Leisure WLA “Hotel General Manager of the Year”, 2023 CHA China Hotel Awards “Best General Manager of the Year”, and China Culture and Tourism Starlight Award “General Manager of the Year”.
