Hotel Indigo Ningbo centers its design narrative around the century-long legend of Ningbo merchants. Drawing inspiration from the historical features of Ningbo’s ancient money shops and Jiangxia Street, it reinterprets iconic symbols of the Ningbo merchant clan—including balance scales, abacuses, silver dollars, bookkeeping studies and vintage shop signs—with contemporary design language. These elements permeate every corner of the property, spanning guest rooms, restaurants, bars and meeting spaces.Flowing memories of trade and commerce echo the merchant ethos of “upholding integrity and honoring every promise”, inviting guests to trace the glorious evolution from traditional private money houses to modern finance.

The hotel’s exterior was designed by Atkins, a British architectural design firm, and stands as an iconic landmark in Eastern New Town. Taking the Chinese character “Shan (Mountain)” as its design inspiration, the tower structure is formed by two interlocking V-shaped volumes.
The hotel features 234 exquisitely designed guest rooms and suites ranging from 45 to 130 square meters in size. Its interiors set an elegant tone with retro mosaic floor tiles and carved plaster walls. Classic symbols of the Ningbo merchant clan are subtly reimagined through contemporary design language. Thoughtful detailing referencing traditional accounting offices and meaning-rich decorative patterns quietly recount tales of honest business practices from bygone days.
Yinli Restaurant is located on the hotel’s ground floor with a seating capacity of 135. Its design extracts elements including street scenes of Jiangxia Street, vintage signs of general stores selling northern and southern specialties, and facades of modern banks to recreate the bustling streetscape of olden times. The menu features premium seasonal local ingredients, focusing on authentic Ningbo flavors. Whether it’s steaming traditional Ningbo breakfast specialties or the highly interactive semi-buffet feast offered on weekends, every meal here serves as an in-depth dialogue with the city’s local customs and culture.
Situated on the same floor, Lobby Lounge 1897 Financial Street can accommodate up to 142 guests at once. Conceived after the private vaults of the Ningbo merchant clan, the lounge blends rich hues with modern linear detailing to craft an elegant, intimate atmosphere. It offers a specialty bread market, refined afternoon tea sets, and an array of signature craft cocktails inspired by local motifs. It serves as an idyllic retreat for savoring delicacies and unwinding over a gentle buzz of fine spirits.
Drawing inspiration from treasure boxes once kept in ancient money shop vaults, the hotel has also thoughtfully created a 388-square-meter dynamic event space.
