Yu Guogang, Chief Development Officer of Marriott International Greater China, stated that PuXiu’s design integrating snow mountain scenery and Naxi cultural heritage meets the brand’s selection criteria. Marriott will empower the hotel from multiple dimensions including guest source development and overseas promotion, and jointly explore the ultra-luxury hospitality market.
As a benchmark quiet luxury resort in Lijiang, PuXiu boasts premium snow mountain views and a prime location, rising to fame with the tagline “Travel to a city just for one exceptional room”. Breaking the conventional model of accommodation and sightseeing, the hotel creates distinctive seasonal outdoor experiences, immersing guests in nature and local daily life. Designed by the P49 Design Team, the hotel replicates the courtyard layout of ancient Naxi villages and constructs buildings using locally sourced materials. Its interiors adopt a minimalist aesthetic adorned with Dongba cultural artifacts and handwoven textiles. Stripping excessive commercial embellishments, the original architectural space vividly interprets regional characteristics, which is highly consistent with the brand core of original storytelling upheld by Design Hotels™.
The hotel avoids superficial symbolic displays of folk customs and regularly offers intangible cultural heritage handicraft courses including Wama Cat sculpture, Dongba papermaking and tie-dyeing, allowing Naxi Dongba culture to permeate the entire stay experience. Meanwhile, it collaborates with nearby villagers and inheritors of intangible cultural heritage to bridge the gap between guests and local communities.
